モントリオール大学の Gerardo Ferbeyre 教授による講演会を企画いたしました。Ferbeyre教授は、癌抑制タンパク質p53の機能解析において、多くの顕著な業績を上げておられます。先生の最新の研究について、興味深いお話が伺えるものと思います。多数のご参加をお待ちしております。

| 概要 | Inflammation is an important defence against pathogens and injury. The response is orchestrated by a variety of extracellular mediators produced by both the injured tissue and cells of the immune system. Typically the inflammatory response is transient and involves both the repression of pro-inflammatory cells and the elimination of damaged cells along with cells of the immune system. In many diseases and aging, inflammation is not resolved and tissues become exposed to sustained levels of pro-inflammatory molecules. This situation increases tissue destruction and carries the seed for cancer development. In this situation the p53 tumor suppressor acts as a barrier for cancer progression. We will discuss our data showing that the suppressor of cytokine signalling SOCS1 acts as a link to connect inflammatory cytokines to p53 modulating the expression of genes regulated by p53. Oncogenic kinases phosphorylate SOCS1 and block its interaction with p53 suggesting novel therapeutic strategies to treat inflammation-related cancers. |
